Overview

§15-1-2.1.43 “Pharmacist” means an individual currently licensed by this state to engage in the practice of pharmacist care.

§15-1-2.1.42. "Pharmacist care" means the provision by a pharmacist of patient care activities, with or without the dispensing of drugs or devices, intended to achieve outcomes related to the cure or prevention of a disease, the elimination or reduction of a patient’s symptoms, or the arresting or slowing of a disease process, and as provided in West Virginia Code § 30-5-10.

Individuals eligible for Examination for Pharmacist’s Registration must be one of the following:

  • Graduate of an accredited School or College of Pharmacy

  • Graduate of a Foreign School of Pharmacy (not located in the U.S. or its possessions) who has successfully completed the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Exam (FPGEE)

  • Registered as a pharmacist in another state AND Establish WV residence in this state OR am married to an active-duty member of the armed forces of the United States and has accompanied the member to an official permanent change of station to a military installation located in this state as permitted by the Universal Professional and Occupational Licensing Act of 2025.  Pharmacists must take the Uniform MPJE and complete the WV Plus module successfully to be licensed under this Act.

If reciprocating an existing pharmacist registration from another U.S. state but not moving to WV, you should purchase and pass the Uniform MPJE through NABP and complete the WV application.  Only AFTER you have passed the Uniform MPJE do you complete the eLTP application with NABP.
