Interns

§15-1-2.1.25 “Intern” or “pharmacy intern” means an individual who is currently licensed by the board to engage in the practice of pharmacist care while under the supervision of a pharmacist. 

Individuals eligible for an Intern Registration must be one of the following:

  • Currently enrolled in a pharmacy college

  • Graduate of an approved college of pharmacy, or graduate of a foreign pharmacy who has obtained Foreign PharmacyGraduate Examination Committee certificate, for purposes of getting required intern hours

  • Qualified graduate who is awaiting examination for licensure

  • Individual participating in a residency or fellowship program

Pharmacy Technician Trainees

§15-1-2.1.43 “Pharmacy technician trainee” means registered supportive personnel currently engaged in a pharmacy technician training program which has been approved by the Board and who is under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.

Individuals eligible for a Pharmacy Technician Trainee Registration must be one of the following:

  • High school graduate

  • General Education Development (GED) Certificate Issued by Board of Education

  • Enrolled in an approved high school program

Pharmacy Technicians

§15-7-2.3 “Pharmacy technician” means a person registered with the board to practice certain tasks related to the practice of pharmacist care in this State within the scope of practice permitted by West Virginia Code Section 30-5-12, as provided, permitted and limited by the laws and rules governing the practice of pharmacist care.

Individuals eligible for a Pharmacy Technician Registration must meet the following requirements:

  • High school graduate or;

  • General Education Development (GED) Certificate Issued by Board of Education

  • Completed an approved pharmacy technician training program

Nuclear Pharmacy Technician Trainees

§15-1-2.1.43 “Pharmacy technician trainee” means registered supportive personnel currently engaged in a pharmacy technician training program which has been approved by the Board and who is under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.

Individuals eligible for a Nuclear Pharmacy Technician Registration must meet the following requirements:

  • High school graduate or;

  • General Education Development (GED) Certificate Issued by Board of Education

  • Completed an approved pharmacy technician training program

Nuclear Pharmacy Technicians

Pharmacist

§15-1-2.1.40 “Pharmacist” means an individual currently licensed by this state to engage in the practice of pharmacist care.

Individuals eligible for Examination for Pharmacist’s Registration must be one of the following:

  • Graduate of an accredited School or College of Pharmacy

  • Graduate of a Foreign School of Pharmacy (not located in the U.S. or its possessions) who has successfully completed the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Exam (FPGEE)
