The CDC has finalized the Pfizer-BioNTech Booster recommendation for the following populations as long as they received the Pfizer-BioNTech initial primary dose series, are 6 months after its completion, AND are in the following populations:

• Adults ages 65 and older and residents of long-term care facilities
• Adults ages 50 to 64 who have an underlying medical condition that may increase their risk from a COVID infection
• Adults ages 18 to 49 who may be at increased risk from a COVID-19 infection because of an underlying medical condition, if that person feels like they need one based on a consideration of their individual benefit and risks.
• Adults ages 18-64 years who may be at increased from COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of occupational or institutional setting and are at least 6 months after the primary series.

You are NOT permitted to provide boosters to the above populations if the received an initial series of Moderna or the Jannsen/Johnson& Johnson vaccine.  Meaning, you may not give a Pfizer booster to a person who received an initial series of Moderna.  Nor is a Moderna booster permitted if the individual received a primary series of Moderna, unless the individual is immunocompromised. (The Moderna booster dose may be changing.)
